Insane: Just noticed my toadstool has some holes around the edges. There is a small black ball of something that I can push out of the holes. I removed them but doesn't move or look like a worm/bug.

Could this be that "boring algae"?

Would you be willing to give a step by step on the "mild iodine hypo salinity solution"? I've never done anything like this before.

Hello,

they also need some water flow, otherwhise Detritus will rest on some placs of the coral and this creates also white holes in the coral.

Markus

This could also be natural asexual fragmentation....many soft corals, either if they are very happy, or somewhat stressed, will start to "self-disintegrate," thus forming frags that will drop to the sand, and will grow into new corals/colonies.

With all due respect to InsaneClownFish, I've never heard of a soft coral being attacked by boring algae.

If it were me, I'd leave them as be. If they start to get necrotic (rot), then I'd remove them as quickly as possible.

My dos pesos,

similar problem here. I post for a friend and i have never seen the coral, i just have these two picture. anyone have already seen this?

you can see on the first picture the "black balls" and the stalk of the coral covered of wthite patch. the coral looks fine and the polyps are open.
