what size overflow do you recommend for a 90 gallon tank?

IM building a new sump and Im going to use a new overflow because now I have one of those big bulky one's with the u tube Im going to get one of the cpr style overflows but not sure wich flow rating to get???

please any opinions?

Watch out for the CPR overflow. I hear that you need a Aqualifter pump just to keep them running.

As for as flow rate, do you a Closed Loop or Tunzes. If you do, you could go with 900 gph and make up the rest of the water movement from within the tank.

May I recommend drilling the tank, way more reliable then the HOB overflows.

I dont want to tear down the entire tank to drill it

Also im not sure how to drill tanks never did it before

so should I just stick with the overflow with u tubes?
where can I get the best external overflow

I have heard that Life Reef is really good. But you may want to wait to hear from others who have used them.

600gph overflow with a normal sized sump, 1200gph overflow if you have 90gal tank, decent sized sump, and separately plumbed refugium that totals 125gal or more total estimated water volume.

I have a 90 with a 18 gallon sump and a 17 gallon refuge connected to the sump and I am not drilled . So we are in a similar boat.

No question, go with the Lifereef. I turn my whole system off, lose power, it is like it doesn't even exist in my mind for problems. No question.

Now do you go with the single or dual. The single is about 700 gallons an hour. The dual I hear is 1200. My pump is like 1000 gph, so I dump water into my fuge, through the UV etc.

I love the idea of using the second overflow to run gravity through my UV and into my sump.
