What size PVC?

Hey everyone I was wondering what size PVC to use to make a custom overflow. This will be going on my Wet/dry filter (not for SW tank!) and I can't use my overflow box so I have to builb one like this http://www.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread.php?t=297623

But I have no idea on what size to use. Is 1 1/2" good?

What size tank and what is your flow rate?

Its a 127g tank and the pump is a Mag5

I have no experience with that type of overflow, but based on the tank size and the pump, I would go with 1-1/2" PVC.

Anyone else? The Mag5 (500GPH) is what I'm running.
