What skimmer can i get?

Hello. I will be needing a new skimmer for my 55g tank that will be mostly SPS. It will not be BB so i dont need a huge skimmer. I was wondeirng if i can get a decent skimmer for 130 and if i can what kinds can i get?

IMO you really are not going to find a decent skimmer for $130. Anyway are you looking for an in sump or hang on skimmer?

I dont think you need a huge skimmer for barebottom tank, you need a huge skimmer for tank with sand to pull all the crap out that the sandbed produces.

No you need a huge skimmer for BB because the sand bed is a huge filter in itself be removeing waste but in a BB a skimmer has to take care of that extra bit. It doesnt realy matter but a insump would work better. Thanks

Well this is just what i have heard.

I dont think it removes waste, From my experience it just stores it. I've taken 2 sandbeds down and they were both full of nasty green and black muck. That has to be releasing something to skim out. It will break stuff down but over time it fills up and cant do its job anymore.

For a decent priced in sump skimmer an ASM is a good way to go.

I just bought and placed a Coralife Super Skimmer in my 58. It seems to be working well and pulling out a nice brownish yellow bunch of crud.

For $17 more I would just get the G2.

Well when i save up the money i will prolly go with a ASM. So it looks like i am stuck with my berlin. The berlin works just not the best but my tank is still clear and my SPS are doing ok.
