I traded for this Xenia thinking it was the beautiful fast pumping Red Sea Xenia but I'm starting to think not. It did not pulse at all for the first couple days but now slowly will not like I was hoping for though :( does anyone kno what species this is for sure? What's the difference?

I think you may be worried over nothing....

These Red Sea Xenia are one of the few corals that moves under their own power. Their eight-tentacle polyps can pump, or pulse appearing as if they are opening and closing rapidly. The reason they do this is still a mystery. Depending on lighting, food, and water parameters colonies of Pumping Xenia may not always pulse. Do not be alarmed if they cease to pulse, it is not necessarily a sign of poor health. Xenia require moderate water currents and moderate reef lighting for proper health.

Whatever it is, I have it. And mine always pulses. Once it stopped when my salinity dropped below 23 when I accidently forgot to add salt to a small amount of water change water. I'm curious to know what it is as well.

looks like the regular res sea pink pulsing xenia. They can fade, darken, even stop pulsing under different light and water conditions. Looks like its doing just fine.

That's really funny because I just checked my salinity ph exc because the past couple months I got real lazy with it and it was at 21 and I usually am at 24 so I'm thinking the low salinity might be my problem too:headwally:

$50 you add more salt and it starts pulsing ;)
