Well I just got some Salifert test kit yesterday and decided to double check this AM between the two kits. The Salifert kits I got are the Calcium, ALK, and MAG. The reason I wanted to check is I have been checking my CA/ ALK with Seachem for the last year ,bought new kits 12months ago, and start to watch more closely because I am getting more SPS. Some of my button polyps in the last two days are melting because I have been slowly getting my ALK up to around 3 meq/L, according to the seachem. I also just got the Mag and never tested it before so I don't have anything to compare. Here are the results this AM:
Salinity is 1.025
temp 79.3
Salfiert:
ALK - 11.2 KH or 4.0 Meq/L
Ca - 425
Mag -1150
Seachem:
ALK - 2.5 Meq/L, Also tested reference ALK should be 4 Meq/L turned out to be 3 Meq/L
Ca - 350
Mag - no test
So I am trusting the Selifert kits alittle more than the seachems. Anyone else have any experiance like this? any recommendations, I would like to get my Mag up but an a little reluctant right now. I will probably take a sample to a LFS and have them check the results from their tests.
Plus the 75 point differance in the CA if significant as well.
