The time has come to reorder/replace my test kits. I'm sure this has been posed on here hundreds of times, but I'm curious:

1.) What brand test kits do you use?

2.) Which test kits do you use? Mg, Ca, Kh, NO3, NO4, PO4, I, K, Fe, etc?

thanks!

Alk- Hanna
Phos- Hanna ULR
Mag, Cal, NO3- Salifert
K+-Red Sea (but want to get Salifert)
Salinity- Electronic pinpoint meter. Have a refractometer as back up. Use Calibration solution every time.

That's all I test for. Test Alk every few days. Phos and NO3 once every week or 2 depending if I'm on cruise or trying to adjust. Salinity weekly. All others once in a blue moon.

are the hanna checkers worth the $40 each? Lots of people seem to like them, but it just seems like a lot of money (especially for those of us who don't have $1,000s in our tanks).

I love the convenience of the Hanna checkers. Plus I'm colorblind so s black and white number is a plus!!

I'm really impressed that the photometers are only $40 now and are still effective. They used to be around $250 when I left the hobby last. To see them now for $40 is insane. I wouldn't have bought test kits had I known!

Alkalinity- Hanna
Phosphorus & Phosphate - Hanna
Mag, NO3, Potassium, strontium - Salifert
Calcium - API, Red Sea Pro as backup
Salinity- Milwaukee Electronic pinpoint meter. Have a refractometer as back up
Ph - Apex probe
Conductivity - apex probe

I test too much ;)
