Hi guys,

4 days ago I purchased 2 reidi, yet I do not know if they are male & female but that is how I ordered them. They are tank raised and their size is approximately 5 inch.

One of them is eating frozen mysis with no problems but the other one is eating nothing. He just look at the food, and also see the other eating but that's all.

Today I bought some freshwater live shrimps, cherry shrimps and give them 8. I saw bought of the reidi went crazy for them so both of them ate them.

No my problem is this, how should I start feeding the other that is not eating frozen? I cannot continue to buy him expensive live shrimps?

Is there a method how to encourage him to eat frozen mysis?

Have you tried feeding with a pincet? Sometimes, they will take frozen mysis when it is simply placed right before the snout. From my own experience, it can take a week or two to wean them over, which means one must offer some live food to make sure they do not starve.

i have a little cup that i use as a trough, i put the mysis in it and they eat from there or they come up and pull it out of the dropper, if you can get some selcon try soaking the mysis with it

I've never had to train a new seahorse to frozen foods, but I can give some suggestions based on things I've read of other's experiences. Try feeding the frozen mysis first thing in the morning when its hungry. You can even go a day or two without live to see if that doesn't help kick up the feeding response. If he still doesn't eat the frozen after two days, go back to live food for a little while and then try again. You can also try target feeding him the mysis with a turkey baster and/or freezing some of the live shrimp you know he likes to see if he'll take that...
