What to feed zoas?

What is good to give to zoas? They never let me spot feed them, they always close up and even when I feed the entire tank, very rarely does a piece of mysis ever get stuck on them. So, phytoplankton maybe?

I don't target them.... but it seems the zoanthids have grown more since I have been using DT's Premium Reef Blend.

zoas may feed on phytoplankton, wouldnt hurt to add some for sure. but they are mostly photosynthetic and only need light.

I have some that will eat brine shrimp...some people feed them krill...some target feed cyclops eeze...but I agree...it isn't "necessary" to feed them in most circumstances.

Zoanthids do not feed on phytoplankton. They do, however, feed on zooplankton. It is not necessary to feed them though because they feed off of stuff in your tank like fish waste.

they actually feed on light and therefore don't need anything else, the zooxanthellae take care of everything for you. With sufficient light, most corals (save for non-photosynthetic ones) really don't need anything else.

the bigger ones like my paly's and protopalys will yomp pieces of food that land on them when I feed the fish. the little zoanthus show no feeding response to that.
