What to look for in a tank?

I love the pics on here and it stirs my thoughts of trying a mantis tank. I have a spare 10 gallon but not sure if it will work. Its just your run of the mill glass Perfecto tank with black trim. Will I be asking for trouble with the thin glass on this tank?
