What type of algae is this?

I don't necessarily need advice on how to get rid of it. I would like to know what this is called. I purchased some stainless steel tweezers and have been bent over the tank for hours. It's the devil but thanks to bio-pellets (carbon dosing), it is slowly dying. As you can see in the photo, it is losing its green color. There are other parts that have lost its green color and has become opaque. I am not sure how this was introduced into my tank but it has been such a curse.

Yes, and it is very intrusive, so unless you want the tank over-run you best get to work on removing most of it and try to keep one section of the tank for it.
