I currently have a damsel fish in my quarantine tank, but i am getting a Kole Eye Tang today (the LFS is holding it for me until today) and wanted to move the damsel out, clean the tank etc. for the Kole Eye.
Here is the dilemma. The reason the damsel is in the QT is because he had a white spot that i *thought* might be ich. Since then I've seen ich in person and I'm not so sure that is what he really had. It looked like a piece of sand stuck to his side, only one dot. I put him in QT tank with hypo-salinity (1.09) and within a few days (probably 4ish) the *sand* was gone. He has now been in this tank for about 4 weeks and seems to be doing just fine. I have slowly raised the salinity back up. However, i just now read the sticky about hypo-salinity and did not follow that procedure, i did not keep the water level exactly the same, and i did not change the filter daily. (I got my information on a Google search and had not read about doing both of those things :headwally
.
So what would you do? Put him back into the 125 (where the Kole will eventually be). Put him into my 29 gallon biocube (where he was bullied, the reason i moved him into the 125). Put him in the 125's sump? I know he is just a $2 fish, but i have had him since i set up my 29 in Sept.
I just want to add that i have not seen ich on any of my other fish, and i am a newbie so it is very likely that he did not have ich to begin with (that and i had posted a picture on RC and the consensus was that it was just a scratch. I had already put him into the hypo tank so i just continued to treat him just in case). I just don't want to make a mistake here.
