What wrasse can I keep with my clams

I have a leopard wrasse with mine and cleaner wrasses and all my friends have six line wrasses with theres plus we keep them in the same tanks at work. I dont know about others maybe someone else will know.

my six line is safe, others in my group keep six lines and multiple diffferent clams and no problems
Duds

six lines are save. some cleaner wrasses will pick at clams, bird wrasses are out and yellow coras(sp) wrasses are fine when they are young but once the are adults they will go after the clam

never heard of a yellow coris going after a clam.

ive heard it my times.

when they are young they are one of the best wrasses for pyrams. it when they are adults that people seem to see a change.

Wrasse IS too common a name. I think a general rule of thumb is if the adult size in near the size of an adult clam, it'll likely be bad. I know this a generalization and there are exceptions, but most of the bigger wrasses (coris, thalassoma, etc.) will ultimately think that the clams look mighty tasty.

I know of someone who had a fairy wrasse that killed several clams by attacking the gills before he got it removed. Supposedly reef safe, but all individuals are different in each and every tank.

I have a mature yellow coris and a small crocea (smaller than the coris). I have not seen the coris pick at it yet, but I'll be keeping an eye out now...

I'd think a fairy wrasse would have to be pretty starved to start picking on a clam. Theyre midwater plankton feeders. I'd be more convinced that the clam was dying and the wrasse was looking for a free meal.

It seems to me that the same people have all the problems wiht fish picking on their corals/clams/etc. These people seem to always be the "i feed my fish 3 times a week" type people, as opposed to the people who feed their fish heavily 3 times a day.
