What wrasse for 75g?

I have a yellow coris and a possum wrasse. I figure this would be my last fish for the tank

what would you guys get thats affordable?

lubbock's wrasse
tricolor wrasse
or red velvet wrasse?

my lfs ordered some lubbock's wrasses since i had mentioned them in the past, but color seems to vary from fish to fish; they both went to his other store few hours away and someone snatched one of 2 up, which i assume was more colorful.

looking for a peaceful fish that wont pick fights with any of the current inhabitants. any thoughts on the 3 listed or any other ones?

solaris wrasse. awsesome colors. very very peaceful. great eater. swims at all levels. my favorite fish i have ever had.......untill an electrical failure while on vacation :(

just make sure you have a top. mine jumped every couple of days

steve

pink margin wrasse looks great, ill have to ask my lfs if they can get those

thought i read somewhere that the filamented wrasser can be aggressive? but looks similar to a mccosker's though the mccosker's looks a little better

any pics of the solaris wrasse?

I love my carpenters. he leave most other fish alone, except for the overly aggressive yellow coris wrasse, whome he keeps in line.

I also love leopard wrasses, beautiful and swift fish, and one that I eventually plan to keep, though not for a while.

leopard wrasse looks great too but it seems like theyre hard to keep because of their diet. i would try one if i didnt have a possum wrasse that hunts them all day long.

whats the coloration like on your carpenter's?

"Solaris" (C. solarensis) is commonly called a tricolor wrasse. I imagine that's what you were alluding to in your first post. It gets my vote.

That's a glorified, almost photoshopped image, but that's what they look like. Great little fish.

solorensis are nice but will fade alot without females..i have a red velvet and it is on of my favorites..i also have a lubbocks and i think it is one of the most underrated fairys out there

this is a picture of my lubbocks

this is the way it does most of the time
conde7.jpg

just for grins this is my solorensis but they do fade alot..keep in mind that the blue/green group of fairys seem to fade the most..with a few others that do as well
solorensis1.jpg

those three fish i do not have females for but they display the same as if they were in the tank..they will also do this when fighting with other fish..i would love to get females for some of my males but they are very hard to find but my red velvet, condes, and lubbocks have not faded..the red fairys seem to hold color better

with your experiences with wrasses, would you mix different species of wrasses? like yellow coris wrasse and christmas wrasse? i always assumed you could only have 1 genus of a wrasse per tank.

i think for the size and color the red velvet will probably be a good choice

just spend the money and get a mystery wrasse.....you know they're to gorgeous to pass up so might as well just do it cause you know you want it.....

Ruben i have not kept a coris or a christmas wrasse so i can not speak for those but i mix fairys and flashers together just fine..i have had a few fights and some just would not get along at all..i always use a specimen cup to introduce the new fish into the tank and i will keep him there until i can see that he can hold and to let the ones in the tank get use to seeing the new fish..some are only in a day..some might take almost a week after the come out of qt..i also like to try to keep different sizes and colors but i have been able to keep ones that look alike together it just took a little time..but like i said i have mostly kept fairys and flashers but i have kept a few other wrasses like a sixline, possum, and a few of the non reef safe wrasses as well

I have solar wrasse and a carpenters wrasse in QT. I have noticed a little aggression and I would like to put them in my main tank. One thing though is, I have a 4.5" Halichouris (Xmas wrasse) that is the ruler of the tank along side of an Atlantic blue tang. How should I go about getting these two fish into the main tank.
SORRY Unbreakable--- I din't mean to highjack this thread. I just thought it would be a perfect opportunity to get my question out. To help out w/ your question I would go w/ the solar wrasse or the pink margin. They have one in the Divers Den. Check him out. Good luck
