about three weeks ago i bought a pare of whatchman gobies the store told me they were a pare so they have been doing fine and eating but the bigger one has dissapered i saw him yesterday and now only the small one was out is it possible the bigger one was guarding eggs they had please respond

first thing to do is check the floor to make sure it didnt jump out...but in a BC it shouldnt be able to. So check the back compartments to see if he fell thru there and is stuck. They can live down there fine, and some people get some that always live in the overflow it seems and they do fine.

And if you still cant find it, just wait i guess and see if it ever shows up. Take in mind that there are people who've had gobies disappear for months and then one day it pops out of nowhere.

I actually had my ywg disappear for months and then show up when I was taking down my aquarium, so Im guessing he lived in about 1.030 sg water with no food for about four months, I honestly think watchman gobies are the toughest fish alive, I would just wait and watch and hopefully he will show up

mine rarely comes out of his rock... unless i shine light inthere, then he comes shooting out and hangs in the display. :D I would say try shinning some light in the back compartments of your BC HTH

I once lost a 5" FW lobster... Never ever found..... maybe the rats in the walls of my crappy student house gobbled him up. Godspeed.

I am having the same strange occurance. I only had mine for about 3 days, he was eating well and was in good health. Then one morning I couldnt find him and havent been able to find him since. I couldnt even find a carcass. I figured he was attacked by hermit crabs. =(

29 is big enough for him to hide for a while. early on my firefish in my big tank wasn't seen for 2 weeks.
My clown jumped in the back compartment of my 12g as sirdude noted above.

well i am sorry to say he did come back out but he is very sick and dying the lfs thinks its most likley internal issues cause my water is fine and no other fish are sick he just about gone so thanks for the reply's

birdy607... sorry... but dont give up yet. Maybe it jsut had a hard time finding food... keep feedin, he may bounce back if all other parameters are okay. I had a baby perc that i got from a fellow reefer who was all beaten up from a clown, and was almost dead. Now... hes a perfect specimen :D Goodluck.
