What you have right there is a mess! Is it supposed to be zoas or palys? Obviously some sort of polyp...unfortunately covered with algae and perhaps some sort of sponge? Not a happy specimen but not too far gone to save. I'd use a clean toothbrush to get rid of the green and go from there.

Can i use tweezers to pull off the algae from the zoa? It's a zoa. I bought it for $10 off craigslist. Didn't see all the algae under the LEDS he had. Very weird. It opens up very nicely though.
i would wear gloves when handling zoas. non powdered surgical. i read when i was doing coral research that they can be quite poisonous. I would also use a fresh pair of stainless steel tweezers. place it in a small container with tank water in it an tweeze away. Some people even suggest wearing safety glasses when handling them. Not sure about this tbh. I would then give it at least two drip treatments.
When i found nuisance algae and items on my frags i didn't want i used a dremmel gloves and safety glasses to rid the frag of undesirables.
