whats the best salt?

I think you'll find that most people here also use IO. I personally like Reef Crystals, which in made by instant Ocean.

the best salt is the one that does the best for your tank, which may be what you are using now. I use oceanic and am happy with it (others do not like it)

Instant ocean reef crystals gets my vote. It is very consistant and you can find it everywhere. i have never used oceanic so I cant say anything bad about it.

I'm using Ocean Pure in my new tank. The tank is too new to make any real claims about it but so far it seems good. It's something to look into at least. It mixes instantly and has good levels for all stuff I tested. The only drawback for me (so far) is that since it's only available on the west coast I actually pay more for shipping than I do for the salt itself :(

I use Tropic Marin. I don't really have a reason other then a friend recommended it to me, so I've stuck with it and have not had any problems so far.

Ive only been in the hobby a very short time but I think its a trial and error thing and what works best in your particular tank is whats best for you to use.Ive been very pleased with Crystal Sea Marine mix myself.Just my thoughts, maybe its helpful.

I am huge fan of Tropic Marin. I have used IO and Oceanic prior to making the switch to TM and I will not be turning back. I have had excellent success with my corals and livestock since making the switch. I have just purchased their Pro-Reef line so I will keep you all posted on my findings.

I use Tropic Marin salt. It can provide excellent buffering and seems to work well for me. I have used IO as well and have had success with it as well. ...Jim Z.
