"SPS" and other scleractinians have skeletons made of a matrix of calcium carbonate.

Antipatharians have skeletons made of protein and chitin. Bits of the skeleton are dried and polished to make black coral jewelry all the time. Trade in the animals and jewelry is regulated by CITES though.
