What's this black spot?

I just noticed this black dot about the size of a period on my true perc. It is between the 2nd and 3rd bars. The clown seems as normal as ever. Any ideas what it is? He is only about 3 to 4 months old. Is this just his black and thickening? Even though it is at least a centimeter from and black band? Thanks!

Smooth black spots that look like his black expanding are normal for percula and ocellaris that host in certain corals. (especially zoanthids)

If it looks like a bump or indention or like a grain of sand on this outside of the fish it could be something else.

Any more info about what hte fish is hosting in might be helpful. When did you add the fish to your tank? Also, have you added anything to the tank since the fish? If so, what and about how long ago?

I don't have a pic, but ya it looks similar to that. It is not raised or indented. At the moment it is in a fish only tank.
