Hi, I hope I posted this in the right place. I am new to the hobby and have started with a twenty gallon tank that has been running for about three monthes now.
Just tonight I noticed what seem to be four small tentacles (~5-10 mm long) poking out from a hole on the underside of my live rock. They start about the diameter of a lengh of cross stick floss, maybe a tad smaller, and end about the size of one thread. They are not really moving aside from wavering a bit in the current, especially the thin tips.
The only thing I can compare it too, would be like a very small brittle star legs. But the ones in my tank are yellow with dark brown/black bands. I have tried to look up brittle stars but have found none with the same color.
The closest I found is this: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_vnzN5K0hFz0/SZzcaxoC3DI/AAAAAAAABeA/LN-SXEgSkmg/s400/brittle_star_7065.jpg
But the one in my tank is more of an ocre yellow and the bands are pencil thin. A baby one?
I am kind of freaked out. It has not moved since I have noticed it.
Any idea what this could be? I can't get a picture cause my camera sucks and to get this thing on film would take some super macro function or something as they "tentacles" are quite thin.
Thanks for any insight.
