Everytime a heated discussion happens on here, a mod jumps in and closes the thread. It's a bunch of crap. People should be able to freely express their veiws without fear of persicution from the REEF MODS(ahhhh run for your lives!!!!). Without free debate reefing as a hobby WILL DIE, I guarantee. The site should not be a 24/7 butt kissing fest. If you disagree with what a person says, you should feel fee to express that without getting a slap on the wrist b/c the mod does not like it.

I recently performed experiments using a new AEFW treatment that worked awesome. When I posted it up I had a few people give me a hard time about it but after I was able to post all the results, the conflict resolved itself. Now if this thread would have gotten closed before I could do that, over some stupid disagreeing, then no one would be able to learn about this new method which seems to be a breakthrough in the battle and will be a perfered method of treatment in the future.

Human biengs HAVE emotion and should be able to express it. If say two individuals take it WAY overboard in a thread, you warn them and it still doesnt work, ban them from the thread, site or whatever but DON't close a valuable thread where ideas and research are bieng compared and contrasted for the bettering of reef keepers everywhere! I have always seen people ask why all the greats are not on this site and I am beginning to see why. It's an abuse of power to say the least. If your a mod and you don't do this, then I am not talking about you so don't freak out on me.

Please let me know what other SPS reefers think about this...and yes this is an SPS question b/c thats where I keep seeing this happen.

there isnt anything wrong with discussion agreement/disagreement however sometimes the debate gets out of hand when acusations are made or things may get too personal. Im glad mods do their jobs otherwise this board will become like other forums i have seen in the past.

All the threads i seen closed are due to things getting alittle too personal.

Now you've done it. :)

Joking of course

But do you think the whole thread should be closed? Or just to the members causing problems? I agree with you, that has happened in the past and we do need mods but if there is 50 people in a discussion and 2, 3 maybe even 4 people get out of hand.....is it fair to the other 46 members posting??? Wouldn't it make more sense to delete the posts not relevent(MODERATE) or posters?

I have seen this happen to many good threads in the last few years .Some just totally get removed and the whole thread is lost forever. If you were around during alot of the BB threads, or rock cooking threads ect you will know what I talk about. It was in that timeframe we lost almost all of the RC experts.

I the end I don't agree but I am not going to argue the point either because we are all guests on a privately owned site and they have the final say .

Also I don't see how banning a member for one profanity or some bickering is going to help when they clearly have an active involvment with this site.

As you can see my post was edited in the other thread and the thread was left open . I feel another mod may have came alone and decided to close it .

Also as I have been told in the past MODs do not delete posts only edit them. Also I was told they do not remove posts in a thread to clean them up instead if need be the whole thread is closed.

Threads that go south rarely are salvageable. It's just the nature of the board.

clkwrk - you've got your facts slightly mixed up. The whole reason things blew up during the timeframe that you're discussing is because one of the "experts" deleted a thread. I'm not going to rehash that and there's no point in discussing it so this thread too is closed.

Cheers

:D
