whats your favorite wrass

rhomboid wrasse :D

By far my favorite wrasse I've ever seen, just havn't bought one yet.

don't have a photo of one but a simple google should show ya how cool these fella's are.

I have a sixline wrasse in my reef tank, he's great. Also totally reef safe. There's lots of cool options out there though. Stick to the smaller ones (some can grow very large) and the reef safe ones. Sixline, flasher, lubbocks, fairy, christmas and velvet wrasse to name a few.

If you're looking to spend a little more money on an expensive wrasse, take a look at the mystery wrasses. They are a perfect fish for a reef tank.

Rhomboid looks 10 times cooler than a mystery! :D

I have a yellow wrasse in a 55 with a pair of ocellaris, baby regal, bangaii cardinals, six line wrasse, and a dragonette. He's probably the friendliest fish I've ever seen (the yellow). I've caught him playing in the hairy mushrooms with my clowns (two separate pairs has doen this with him) He follows the regal around most the time, side by side like little buddies. Ocasionally he'll follow the six line but I think that's more curiosity and waiting for the six line to spot the food for him to go grab. Very reef safe wrasse and model citizen IMO.

Relatively small, it grows to a max of 5-6 inches while many wrasses can grow up to 2 feet. And some of the 1 foot plus wrasses are still purchased in aquaria because the juvi's "look cool" Lol

what reef safe wrasse grows to 2 feet

no reef safe ones that I know of, but I think the formosa, twin spot coris and half and half all get around 2 ft. Could be missing some here, dunno.

my fav is either the laboutii fairy wrasse or line-spot flasher wrasse.....here is a pic of both

sixline. Cheap, hardy, colorful, and an excellent hunter that will keep the bristleworms in check. They are 100% reef safe IMO, but I am not totally sure about hermits and crabs. I have seen them attack turned over snails, and knock hermits off the rocks.

I like my Lineatus and Scotts.
