What's your photoperiod?

How many hours are your lights on, how many hours are they off?

I know the decision can be motivated by what's best for the livestock, the desire to be able to view the aquarium at (almost) all hours, and electrical costs.

Is pretty much everyone here like 16 on 8 off though?

Blue/Actinic is on 14 hours and 10000K and 6500K are on for about 7.5 hours.

I think lots of people have a much shorter photo period... I think I've seen as little as 4 with MH.

Yea I'm setting up a little 20g long reef and puting a 175 MH over the top, I wonder if I should supplement a couple PCs so I can have the tank viewable for something close to 18 hours, without burning my halide for more than 14 or so hours...Could be cost effective...

12 hours actinics, 6 hours MH's.

I run my halides for 12hrs.... I don't have any supplemental lighting...
