Hi its my first time with a saltwater tank. I bought some liverock with this snail attached to it, its about 1 1/2 inches long. After researching online afterwards i think its some form of whelk. Am i correct?

im thinking i'll keep it in a quarantine area for awhile. Does anyone know what i could feed it (besides other snails and such). i would feel bad killing it.

Thank you!

? :-( ?

i found another little one just like it, id like to grow that one bigger, my hermies could use the shell :-P but i dont have a refugium for them, just a bucket of saltwater and no food :-(

Well, it's a predatory snail, but it looks like it might be a murex rather than a whelk. Still, some of the buccinid whelks can look very similar. It will eat other snails in either case.

Cheers,

Don
