Whelk ID Please

Whelks/Conchs are not my strong suit. Can anyone at least narrow it down to the genus?

Close, but I think it's Stramonita haemastoma instead. Functionally the same, though. Did it come from the Gulf Coast?

Unsure, pagojoe. It's not mine. Someone I know posted some pictures of eggs needing an ID and we tracked it down to a mystery snail he purchased. Ended up being the culprit pictured above. Needless to say, he made a mistake as he's found several dead/missing snails in his tank thus it will be banished to the sump.
