When adding ro/di water as top off water does anyone add anthing to the water before adding it to the tank as a means to raise the ph and alk of the to off water. Just wondering because the ph of ro/di water is 0 and wondering if that lowers the ph of my tank. I add about a gallon of topoff water a day and was wondering if i should add a buffer to the topoff water.

No don't add anything unless you find your alkalinity or calcium is low. RO/DI does not have a pH of 0, thats not possible. It is lacking in electrlytes so is not able to be tested accurately so don't worry about it. Your existing water will bring it to where it needs to be and your salt mix does it for water change water.

if you test your alkalinity and calcium, and they are lower than set standards, you may want to start using limewater (kalkwasser) calcium hydroxide for example... this will slightly boost or maintain those levels if added on a regular basis depending on inhabitants useage and evaporation. like in top off water. if more of either of those are needed then a supplement is needed. likw a two part additive, make sure the magnesium is at a healthy level..
