When good ideas go bad ....

Past sump experiance and things do not always go as planned. This design turned out to be a bad idea. What I am talking about is the PVC "T" this was from the overflows on the tank. The dynamic impacted here was all the over flows were tied togeather to drain into this sump.

The design initially appeared to be a good idea however even with a wider diameter pipe after both tank over flows plumbed in we experianced a 25% decrease in flow and the pump for the return was at risk of over flowing the tank.

During fresh water testing we did actually over flow it thinking at some point the drains would catch up.

Solution was to run each overflow independently of each other. We stopped the overflows from "gurggling" by using the same theory used in homes.

All homes have a drain exhaust that runs to the roof. Some homes have two. In a reef system the same process can be used I will show it in more detail as I build the new system.

Lots of teasing going on here, I like pictures and more of them. That picture is basically the same as my frag system currently. I feel obligated to snap some pics when the lights come on and show you mine.

More pictures good. =D Kathy found all the pictures we had not posted so I will have them posted once she gets back from Chicago.

A picture of it once set up.
