When taking macros?

When taking Macro shots of corals through the glass do you use tripods and the LCD display or get straight up to the glass and use the EVF?

Thanks

Tripod & EVF for me, right up against the glass when the position of the coral accomodates that.

Well I've never actually used an EVF, but macro is one of three instances I ever use the LCD. The 2nd instance is in a crowed where I have to hold the camera over my head to get a shot and obviously can't use the viewfinder. Even then I'll often set a high fps, make an estimate, and take 10 shots one handed as high above my head as I can reach. The 3rd instance is astronomy.

With my 40D, I have a 5x and 10x digital zoom in the LCD which does not effect the final shot. Zooming in an extra 10x on a tripod allows precision manual focusing at its finest. Spot on focus every time. I use the LCD with astronomy for the same reason.

Ok, Thanks for the input guys. I'll just have to have a play around and see what comes out best.
