hey guys i have a 2 1/2 inch maxima clam. Ive had him for about a week now and before when the lights would go out, he would close up and stay a little open. Tonight when the lights when out he just stayed opened. Is this normal?. Thanks !.

My clam would stay open for maybe 15-20 minutes then close up. If you still have bright light in the room outside of fish tank that might be why, but if it's complete darkness it should gradually come to a close up position.

clams wont close all the way just because its dark. they still need to pump water and they cant do that if there closed tight. i wouldn't worry about it. sounds normal
