When to change ROWAPHOS

Hey guys,

Just a quick question.. I tried a search but really couldnt find a good answer.

So how long do you go before changing your rowa in a fluidised reactor (2 litte fishes)???

i replace it when the test results begin to change. Don't want it to get too far ahead of me.

I test the water coming out of the reactor and as soon as PO4 is detectable, I change my media.

My test kit isnt accurate enough for this method. So there really is no standard here.

just read the can and it says up to several months. maybe that means 4 months.

but it has to be different for every tank

Po4 test kits are so unreliable I just change ~ 3 mos. in average scenarios. If your fish load, feeding is hi more often also how aggressively you skim needs to be factored in.

TCU Reefer's post is the D&D recommended way. I just mix my ROWAphos with carbon (far less ROWA than recommended) and dump it once a month when I replace the carbon. Just a few heaping TBSP. Fluidized reactors really increase their effectiveness and the rate that they "fill up".
