when yellow turns red

Sounds good. The last time I used Melafix and Pimafix was probably 20+ years ago. It didn't seem to help so I abandoned using it. I'm guessing it works by boosting a fish's immune system, so their body can fight off the infection naturally. Might be worth another look. I'd be interested to hear from those who have used it in the presence of corals/inverts.

It may boost immune system but I suspect it increases or mimics natural fish slime to create a barrier.

Other here report slimed coral. Since I am presently coral free, I couldn't comment either way as to coral.

I think this will be my last post on this subject. After two doses of the treatment, there is NO red remaining on the Yellow Tang. I'm kind of amazed. When I started this he about 65% of his body blushed with what looked like blood close to the surface. It followed the lateral line and was also "sploched" in several places mostly in the aft 1/3 of his body.
I don't think he's quite as intensely yellow as he was but I'm pretty sure that will return.

So I have only done two doses of Melafix. As soon as the new salt water adjusts to temp, I'm going to do a 25% water change and carbon the Melafix out.

I hope my skimmer will stop foaming at the mouth and do it's job properly but if I have to do another water change to get it back on track, that's OK by me.

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone who offered advice as you saw fit.

Oh, I didn't hear back from the MFG regarding the foaming skimmer action and there is no mention of it on the bottle as far as I could see. For what ever that might be worth to you.

FYI I did hear back from the MFG just now. According to them, Melafix will break down in 24 hrs. So run the skimmer at the end of the day. Dose for three days if things have improved and they didn't mention a water change as being a critical part of the dosing.
