:bounce3:I'm scuba diving in Cancun in 3 weeks, and want to take some underwater pictures of coral.

Anyone know some good reef areas to go photographing?

thanks.

same question here! tagging along. Cancun good in march?? (sorry if this threat jacks at all)

Last time I dove puerto aventuras (sp?) it sucked...30ft vis and high currents and they tried to throw me in with 2100psi. "senior, esta bien!" no thanks. But iv heard cancun has good dive companies, Coz did.

It's been some time since I've been there, but the weather was pretty awful, so I did wrecks one day, which were fun, nice dives, but unremarkable. We tried one dive on Isla Mujeres that was just awful (visibility).

Then the next 2 days, since the ocean was so bad, I was introduced to cenotes. I could go back and spend a week diving those. It's a pretty unique experience, especially if you have any cave or wreck training and can dive some of the more technical cenotes. Even if not, the more accessible ones are still quite spectacular.

three weeks should be great! Hope you post back with any sites you hit and what was good. I'd be interested to hear. Have fun!

Cancun isn't a great dive spot - sorry not trying to crap on your vacation just telling the truth. I've dove near Isla Mujares and that's probably the best in that area. There are some very nice reefs farther ~45min south around Playa Del Carmen and of course off Cozumel. A couple trips out of Playa would be worth your time. And centoes rock!

Definetly worth taking the day trip down to Cozumel. I've been down there several times over the last few years. Cenotes are cool also, but be aware that water is very cold.

I agree with the previous post that Cancun is most definitely not the place for good reef diving. Then again, if it is your first diving experience you might really enjoy it.
