Where can I find formalin?

Thanks, I think they don't ship to Canada, and the information I have is that here in Canada the formalin is not permitted. Last resource I,m going to try with life guard IO.

I missed the Canada. Did you try a small animal Vet? I know formalin can't be shipped to California, but think Vets can dispense it. (Not 100% sure.) I've heard some success stories about this stuff, from a friend who breeds clowns. I don't know the Canada policy though.

I know it is too late for this incident, but generally it is wise to stock everything you might possibly need for fish health. Cheap insurance.

Check some of the Ich Medications active ingredient, i have one that is 37% (or something like) formalin. It is called Ich Guard 2. It is made for scaleless fish.

Thanks all for the good info,

My clown is doing well, but still not cured, he's eating, hopefully he can recover if he was in a very early stage of the disease and the life guard has help him to create some immunity.

I'm going to check out the Ich medications.

If I remember correctly, this is a FW product. This doesn't mean it may not work in SW, but could have ingredients that produce dangerous reactions with SW. There is a reason FW meds are not labeled for SW and I think its a good idea to avoid putting anything anything into a SW tank unless its labeled as OK. I know we aren't dealing with ich on this thread, but FW & SW ich are not the same parasite and can't be treated the same way.
EDIT: I just read entire thread. I just assumed we aren't dealing with ich; it seems to be everywhere right now. (It isn't, don't panic.) I just saw Clownfish and Formalin and assumed the OP is treating Brooklynella. Right?

Yes, my clown has brooklynella, what about trying this Ick guard? I can found it in a LFS, and as I know we use fromalin only for short baths of 15 to 30 minutes.

Revive's synergistic combination of acriflavine, aminoacridine and formalin are more effective than either individually. Revive contains no copper, no undefined extracts or other "œnatural" disease fighters. Revive delivers fast, safe, and effective results.

Treats the water and eliminates external parasites such as the Amlyoodinium, Brooklynella, Chilodonella, and gill flukes, as well as treating external bacterial infections such as fin and tail rot.
Biodegrades after some 4-5 days, leaving no harmful residue.
Does not harm Fish, Invertebrates, Live Plants or nitrifying bacteria and no test kit is necessary during treatment.

FAQ:

This is the fifth day after the 1st symptom of Brooklynellosis on my A. Ocellaris.

1st day: Dust in the upper body and head, some itching.

2nd day: Spread to eyes and pectoral fins, swimming steadily in the powerhead flow. Lots of itching.

3rd day: Put on QT at 1,009 SG at 80 °F, with good oxygenation, low flow, still with erratic swimming. Medicated with IO life guard 1 pill/10 gal of water.

4th day: Second dose of life guard and seemed to be swimming more comfortable.

Today 5th day: Swimming normally, eating well, seems that the discomfort is disappearing. Waiting for the 3rd dose of life guard at night.

Can't tell about visual sings because my QT is a 18 gal sterilite container, I have yet to buy a QT aquarium. Only can say that swimming and fins movement is natural now, and I don't see fins damage.

I think if there is success with this treatment is due to an early diagnosis of the disease, or maybe a misidentification of the disease with the same symptoms of Brooklynella?

Thanks for the help,
