Where did my firefish go?

I had an order of fish come in from blue zoo aquatics on Friday with these livestock: royal gramma, flame angel(my new favorite fish), pink bar goby with firefish, 30 snails, and the firefish. After acclimating them with the drop method for 1 1/2 to 2 hours I realeased them into the tank. Most of the fish went into the back of the tank, exept the fire fish who was active and swimming around everywhere exept the back. I didn't see him two nights ago, yesterday or today. The last time a did see it it was swimming lower than usual and it was striking its belly against the sand( I have olite sand so it wouldn't have cut it) I looked at it to see if it had any diesise and I didn't see any spots on either side. All the other fish are doing great and my levels are good. I removed all the large crabs in my tank to. It's it hiding or is it dead?

Any chance it could have jumped out? I had one that jumped out, but I found it in time to get it back in tank ( I had the lid off for a wc). A few months later it was gone. Not sure if it died and was taken care of by the cuc and ph, or if it somehow jumped back out the tank.

I looked all around the tank and didnt see it. I did have some rocks fall while building a stand two days ago. I forgot to mention this earlier but I bought two fire fish and didnt research it enough and they fought and one died from that then I went to Colorado for a week and I came back to not find the other one. I have suspicions about a Sally lightfoot crab which has been removed about two weeks ago. I saw it eating one of my chromis

I have (?) one, and he disappeared for about six weeks, then reappeared for a day then disappeared again. As my saying goes: Q: What happened when the firefish died? A: Nobody noticed.
In other words, they tend to be very secretive. (In my experience)

Hmm, I wonder if the other one is still alive then that disappeared while I was on vacation. Haha. I just hope its alive though. I'll give you an update if I ever see it... Or hopefully not but find it's body.

They do like to hide so maybe it is in the rocks.....

I've had mine hide for a while when they get spooked (They don't call them Dartfish for nothing). I had sixline that I didn't see for 2 days after putting him in the tank, so it's not totally unsual for a new fish to hide for while. If he did die and you have a CUC, they'll make short work of a body.

I have small hermits, probaly somewhere around 15.

I had two firefish that were eaten by an emerald crab. Never saw them after the first day. Later I found half a firefish that looked like it had been torn by a crab

Great news!!!!! I just saw the firefish and as soon as it saw me it dart back into its hole. That's a relief. Thank for the help guys!!!

Glad to hear you saw the fish. Sounds like he/she needs a little time before coming out all of the time.

Ya I guess, I funny though because it was the only fish that was out when I added them all in. Maybe because it didnt have a dart hole yet.?.?

Or maybe one of the other fish is causing it to hide. Probably wont know for sure.

That's a good of a guess as any although I didn't see fish bothering it. I just fed everything and he's been swimming around for awhile now, it's nice to have him back.
