Where does everyone get fish from?

I am on week 7 of 8 for my display tank being empty from ich. I lost 3 of my 6 fish after I finished 3 weeks of cupramine in a 55 gallon hospital setup. 1 clown got sucked up into my power filter, my yellow eye kole tang and yellow tang both stopped eating AFTER cupramine ended and died a couple weeks later. No idea why. I have 3 fish left who eat and are healthy. Not a good first experience with battling ich...

That being said, I will quarantine my new purchases coming up. Do you all just treat with cupramine from the beginning or wait and observe for 4 weeks first? I was thinking of maybe ordering online to save some money since I just lost $180 in fish on top of the hundreds I spent in fighting ich. Is there a good site to order from? Every single store in stl has ich and other diseases....

Online purchases can be just as risky with ich. Best bet is to quarantine before adding to display tank. Tangs are extremely sensitive to copper and don't do well when treated, usually succumbing to internal organ damage from the copper. They are better off with tank transfer method. I usually try to find local fish that have been in the store for a few weeks as those tend to have proven constitutions if they haven't succumbed to the myriad of things that they can be exposed to.

If you can keep the fish eating and not stressed you can beat ich. Fish selection is key and I'd rather watch them at a store than buy online.

Got my first fish for the new 180 at Corals and More. A female blue jaw trigger. Eating great. Looking for a male blue jaw to go with it. Petco in Edwardsville had one last week but it looked like it had ich to me. It sold anyway.

Buy Private

Many times my fish have died when buying from fish stores/online plus private is often less expensive. I am selling my complete set up take a look. If u really want to buy from fish stores have them feed them and find out how long they had them. Usually if they had them 6 weeks or longer you will know they have survived their journey to the fish store and have gotten over the stress entailed. I did have some luck from fish I bought at Corals N More.
