I can't find a local source for harlequin shrimp in Michigan. Any recommendations for an online vendor?

Live aquaria is a good choice. I got my pair from them. Vivid Aquariums is another that might have them.

Harlequin Shrimp

Harlequin Shrimp

We have both captive raised Hymenocera elegans and the Hawaiian Harlequin shrimp Hymenocera picta for sale. The elegans are rather large and sexually mature. They retail for $40.00 each. The Hawaiians are pretty small about the size of a pencil eraser and retail for $100.00 each. Both are available for in store pick up. We can ship but not when it is too cold or too hot.

Nice to see these are being captive raised. Can the Hawaiian harlequins be sexed yet, or are they too small?

I am guessing it is too cold to ship now?

How often do you stock the Hawaiians? In the process of getting stuff to set up an upgrade and always wanted a set of the Hawaiians. Would be willing to make the drive for them.

I bought my pair from reef wise. One of n favorite annals. I just wish someone would develop a frozen food for them. I hate spending $10 bucks on a starfish for them every two weeks.

It is very dependent on the size and health of the starfish. In general I think people wait too long between feedings. I average 2.5 weeks between feeding for my pair. I have had them for well over a year and have kept other pairs long term in the past.

I only buy the Harli's every few years to take out the pesty asternia starfish...after that I trade them away....not a great inhabitant for longterm success IMO

Try Bluefish Aquarium (616) 667-2583. They had one the last time I was in there. It was beautiful! They are in Grandville (just outside of Grand Rapids if you aren't familiar with West Michigan), so around a 3 hour drive.
