Where to buy glass for baffles?

Hey everyone,

I am in the process of setting up a 120 gal replacement for the 65. I have a 40B for a sump and need to start on the baffles and such.

Any thoughts on where I should look to acquire the glass for the baffles? Somewhere relatively inexpensive since these are, afterall, just baffles. :)

Thanks!

Luis

lowes carries the glass and will cut. it's getting pricey. just remember to under cut by a 1/16 and remember blade width for the cut. i used the 1/4 inch lexan from lowes and used the new glue that will adhere to glass and acrylic on my sump and works great. and another note sand the top and bottoms of the glass to take the shape edges off with sandpaper. if you go to a galss shop they will do that for you. i know alot of people recommend ovideo glass. good luck

Can you provide more info on the glue?

If the glass was too expensive I was going to look into using acrylic as a substitute. Maybe glass for the refugium compartment but I don't think it's a necessity for the bubble trap.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Luis

Lowes will do it like mentioned. You can sand the glass or put a small bead of silicone on the top. I measure and drop it by 1/4" inch. That way you have 1/8" on each side which is plenty for silicone to bind to it. I guess you can do 1/8" so you have 1/16" on each side.
