Where to get a 1/4" water solenoid for topoff control?

I am sick of float vlaves. I would like to go to switches, use my ACIII to control my top off. Any thoughts on where I can get a couple solenoids on the cheap? I want AC powered normally closed valves.

I know I got mine in the sprinkler section of home depot...but these are 24vAC units so you'll have to get a transformer for it...JK Electronics/Maravac/Aravac should have them...

What ones form the sprinkler section are you using?

I could go that route. I was trying to avoid transfomers

Autotop off for the win!

$35 a valve, $65 for 2. I'll take 2, Bob!

Of course this means I need another DC 8 for my ACIII, but heck, it is only money, right!

Yes .. i win.. he likes me.. he really really likes me..lol:D

I have top off switches, the ACIII will open adn close the valve depending on the status of the switches, pH, etc :-)

This is my favorite "all-in-one" unit for those who don't care to assemble their own auto-topoff system:

That setup is awesome!

I was checking out those reef relief units (after you recommended them in another thread) but decided to go with the oceanus instead. The oceanus (poseidon) I got has a built in floatswitch to protect against the return pump running dry. It also has a gfci outlet that energizes when the solenoid is open so I can add an extra solenoid as a fail safe. The best part was that he customized them with no gfci on the return pump and the outlet for the extra solenoid at no charge. If I did it again I'd ask for dual power cords- one for return and one for topoff so I could control my kalk reactor (which is powered by the topoff water) with a ph controller just as an extra failsafe.
