Can someone please tell me where i could find a nice colored haddoni about 6-10". I would prefer to have a smaller one so that i can watch it grow, but 10 would be fine. I can't find one anywhere and when i do they are sold out. Right now my True perculas host in a GTBA w/ purple tips, but i can read there minds and they want a carpet!!:D

I got a Haddon's Carpet from saltwaterfish.com about 3 weeks ago. Great buy! It quickly established its foot into the substrate right where I originally placed it. It has a great green color to it and is about 10 inches in diameter. The site stated I would get a 4-6in anenome that was brown to green in color. It ran me $29.99 with about $20 added on for processing and fuel fees.

My false perc's have yet to take to the anenome. Also it has already eaten 2 of my tangs within the last 1 1/2 weeks. BEWARE! I guess it is a notorius fish-eater. If anyone has suggestions to get it to stop eating my fish (possible move or introducting saddleback clowns), PLEASE HELP!

I got mine from the Diver's Den section of LA. Arrived in great condition and was attached within minutes and was eating the next day.

Acclimating.

Picture from about a month ago -- under sunlight from a skylight -- had been in the tank for about 6 months at the time it the picture was taken.

contact your local fish stores and let them know you are looking for a carpet. Alot of things can go wrong with collecting/shipping these guys so it is best if you can inspect it before you purchase it. Look for a very pronounced mouth (not sunk in). Also a good way to check it's health is by how sticky the anemone is. There was a post recently by a guy who was trying his 2nd red carpet which was very pricey, he lost it within weeks in a system that had no problems. Good luck and post pictures once you have found one!

I would try to get it direct from a wholesaler or something like Diver's Den on LA. Sometimes eliminating that extra stop at the lfs helps out a lot.

Thanks, still looking. Been checking the divers den everyday with no luck. I know a couple weeks ago they had a TON of haddoni, and gigantea. Well, i'll keep checking. Would love to find a small red one. THAT would be sweet. Paired up with a couple Rod's Onyx would be even more sweet!

If you can I would try and get one from another local reefer. I bought a lot of them from stores and they all died with in a couple of weeks.

Nobody's going to believe this anyways, but i thought i would give an update.

The guy that works at my LFS has had a blue haddoni in his sump for 2 to 3 years under pc lighting and it looks GREAT. Does really well, and he said that since he doesn't have room in his display for it he would be willing to sell it to me or trade it to me for some nice LE frags. Its 6 inches in diameter and he only feeds it once a month so it doesn't get huge. I think this is probably the best deal i could find. Not only is it healthy and been in captivity a long time, but its been doing this in fairly poor conditions as far as everybody on the forum would think. I'm probably going to take him up on his offer in a couple weeks after i make plenty of room for it to be comfortable in my tank

Yea haddonis can handle realitively low light. I have seen several setups with haddonis under pc lighting doing well.
