Where to get Acrylic tanks locally?

Thinking of upgrading from my 120 to a 180 or 210 and want to compare the price of both Glass vs Acrylic. Only thing that bothers me about the acrylic is i hear it scratches easier. Is that true?

Any suggestions who locally carries Acrylic tanks?

I have a 210 glass available to me at little or no cost except for the stand and canopy, but not sure if my lights are adequate for the 29"depth. I have 250MH DE lights. That is why i might have to settle for the 180 which is 24" deep.

I'm going to use 250 MH on a 31" deep tank. Don't forget your corals are not that deep.

Thanks to those that replied....I think i will be going with a glass tank...my wife doesnt want me spending all my time trying to get scratches out.

Personally, i am not convinced that its a problem, those that have acrylic...are scratches a problem for you?

not really ...

and don't go with glass cages ... a few people i know have gone with them - and none of them are really exstatic about the quality....

I think if i go glass...which is more than likely, it will be All-Glass or Oceanic.

I personally like the clarity of my acrylic tank and scratches do not seem to be a big issue after 2 years. Yes there are a few but there are products out there that will allow me to buff them out even under the water. But if a piece of live rock falls and hits the front of the tank you are going to get a mark in the glass or acrylic (yes I did it). I was able to buff out the scratch in about 15 minutes, if it where a glass tank the mark would still be there.

Just my 2 cents.

go with Oceanic ... AGA i'm not crazy about their siliconing quality .... IMHO ... i've looked at alot of the AGA's in local shops ... and Oceanic seems to have alot better quality.

I have had both glass and acrylic tanks and I would say that acrylic is better for larger tank applications for the following reasons:

Lighter weight
Clearer (Larger glass tanks sometime have a greenish tint to the glass)
Allows for more options for equipment
A well made acrylic tank will last longer.
Piece of mind since glass tanks have been known to fail more often than acrylic.

I liked the options available to me going Acrylic, but it was double the price of the Oceanic. I think $1k more is a lot of money for going Acrylic.
