Where to get Cured Live rock??

I may be mistaken, but can't see how cured LR can be shipped and stay in water. If it dries out for more than a few hours, you're looking at significant die-off.

Phishy Business is a good source. I have some coming on Friday but I plan to put it in a separate container for a couple of days just to insure no ammonia/die off.

i put 20lbs. of LR in a 30G hex and it killed all but inverts. you should put rock in a tank to cure again unless you a a LARGE tank.

Im about to order about 30 to 60 lb's of lalo from Dr fosters and smith I heard they were one of the best for good consistant quality LR so I will let you know how I like it:)

You can buy fully cured live rock and have little if any cycle. I've done it twice. One time I never had an ammonia spike and nitrates rose to 5ppm. The other time I had a minor spike of A,N,N that ended in 3 days. It's all about how long it was cured, and how it's packed.

I bought mine here:

I bought 2 boxes (Comes out to $5.39/pound and that included shipping) of UNCURED lalo from fosters a while back and cured it myself. What a stinking, messy headache!

Just recently I bought 65 lbs of fully cured lalo from reefermadness. I just rinsed it and plopped it into my established tank. $5.33/pound with shipping included in that price.

I hate to sound like an advertisement, but why pay more for rock that you have to babysit, do water changes on, smell, etc. etc., when you can get fully cured for less????

I was under the impression that if the rock was out of water for more than 1 hour it would have to be cured again. Dont get me wrong I would love to be able to just throw about 30 more lb's of rock in my already established tank. Bottom line why take the chance.

I did and it was fine. The rock from RM was completely cured. No sponges, algae or anything. If there's nothing to die off then there's no cycle. They shipped it priority overnight wrapped in wet newspaper.

Sorry, I didn't take any pics.
