Where to get fish food

Larry's Reef frenzy. I get it from corner Reef. Seems alot cleaner than Rod's. I feed a quarter or so sized hunk 1x daily, then feed a mix of red and green algae flakes 1x daily

i get from the lfs.

i like rods frozen food. when you thaw it, it breaks down to multiple sized particles, allowing you to feed just about anything in your tank.

if your into pellets, i used to get the ocean nutrition pellets. formula one or two, i think only the size differed.

EDIT:: @chucklez, what do you mean cleaner than rods?

Ever notice how when you pour in Rods, its kind of red and cloudy? Now that I use Larrys it isnt near as cloudy.

I use Rod's. First time, not sure how I like it. There are some LARGE chunks of shrimp in there and my little fish don't know what to do with it. I was just told to strain the food, then put it in the tank... Apparenty the oils from the food raises Po4???

A short time now. I make it in smaller batches than he showed in the video and I use different seafood depending upon what is available cheaply when I shop.

What I found most useful about the video was seeing the steps for how he did it rather than following his exact recipe. The mix of ingredients that you will want to use will depend upon the types of fish and coral that you have in the tank.

How long have you been using it SC?

I like this one.

That seems like some good food. I made my own food for my old fish only tanks. I used shrimp, fat salmon, marlin (sometimes), nori, and spirulina powder. It worked great but was super messy to make, but I tend to use every possible bowel, pan, spoon, and surface when I do anything in the kitchen.
I cleaned the shrimp when I did it, never thought the fish would prefer them with the shells.

cheers,
Tom

What concoction would you brew? Right now I feed the fish Rod's Food.. The coral I mix Doc's Eco Bytes, R.O.E., and a dry food blend into some tank water and target feed.

Ive made my own food before.

Scallops-uncooked shrimp-some tilapia fillet-nori sheets-selcon-some minced garlic. I added some RO/DI and bleeded it together well, put it in a gallon baggie and flattened it out and froze it.

You can put whatever your fish likes into it squid, octopus etc etc.

I'm not sure that I'd consider myself an authority just quite yet. But since it appears that you have primarily meat eaters that are on the smaller side, I'd stick with a recipe similar to the video but perhaps chop it up just a bit finer so the chunks are smaller. I'd pick two to three quality meats, a small amount of nori, some black worms for the Leopard wrasse and a bit of zooplankton/phytoplankton. For the last item I have Reef Chile from BRS that I add into the mix, but I think any other product that has some zoo/phyto in it would work as well.

what do you guys prefer to dose the food with. garlic, acropower?

is dosing the food only for corals or does it benefit the fish as well?

is it safe to put acro powder in fish food if you make your own? is it perfectly safe for fish to consume it?
