So I need to provide some basic background. My reef tank is 180 gallons mixed sps/lps and fish/ inverts, 13 years old and has been going strong for all that time
I’ve had many pumps over the years but for the last 3 years I had a VorTech MP60 on one end (left) and an MP 40 on the other side ( right) .
The tank is on the 7th floor of an old office building and the floor is at an angle so the left side is at least 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch lower than the right side .
We recently had two large earthquakes in California. While they were over 100 miles away, the 7th floor shock and lots of water came out of the top of the tank.
Mostly the left side was soaked and the VorTech MP 60 was drenched and dead .
A new one arrives on Wednesday.
Finally the question:
Put the MP 60 on the other end of the tank and should I leave the MP40 on the right side too ? Or move it to the left side ?
And what flow patterns to use ?
