Where to put live sand?

This sounds really dumb and i think i know the answer but if i put my live sand in the fuge wont the sand in the display eventually become live?

There will be live rock in the display so my thinking is the live rock will make that sand live.... or would the live sand in the fuge eventually just seed the sand in the display?

You are correct, but if the only live sand you have is in the fuge, it'll take a lot longer to seed the sand in your display. If you haven't put sand in yet, try putting a few pounds of live sand in, then cover that with "dead" sand.
