Where to put Maxima Clam

I'd like to put my maxima clam in my LR.

But do I wedge it into a crevice or set it on top of some rock and let it attach itself?

Maxima's like lots of light, so depending on your lighting he will probably need to be up high. You can set him on the rock and he will attach his bysal glands in a day or two if he is happy. Also, make sure you aren't blasting him with really high flow.

If it isn't happy where you place it, it will probably jump off the rock, or move around.

I don't want to hijack, but since this is a discussion on clam placement... I Have 2 X 250w MH and 1 X 400W MH on my 125g. Would any clam need to be placed high up on this intense lighting or it could go anywhere? I'm thinking of having 2 eventually. one on each side of the tank. Just wondering if they could be on the sand bed or need to be higher up?

Not sure how much this will help you, but should give you an idea -- this is for my 58, which has 2*250 Radiums + 2*96 PCs. All of my clams are on the sandbed -- 2 Maximas, 1 Crocea, and 1 Squamosa -- and doing great.
