Where's the best place to buy CURED live rock here?

I would rather buy from a local, but really want to get this tank up and running next week, so if I don't find anyone with rock for sale by next weekend i'd like to have a plan for finding some nice, porous, small pieces of live rock for my new 12g nano tank. I have seen rock at a couple of stores so far and it is not cured. Anyone know where I could find cured? I wonder if I should hold out for someone breaking down their tank, or maybe order online. I will also need some detrivores.

Suggestions? Thanks!
Angela.

hi there -

I am new to the hobby and just got my oceanic cube set up lastnight (up till 6am!) . . . the rock i used for my tank is a mix of fiji, tonga branch and deep water. i purchased excellent cured rock from two formum members here/craigs, and a couple of almost cured pieces from Aquatic Gallery (milpitis - excellent reef shop - hope to find a better one . . .).

- the pieces i picked up from the shop are very porus, excellent shape, lots of color - looks like little fingers coming out of the rock. cured rock $7/lb uncured $6.5/lb

- my other pieces are at least as impressive. came from estabished tanks for many years, and i even was able to get a handful of coral and some cool hitchhikers to boot. <$3/lb

im happy with everything, and even happier to finally have my tank up . . . i will post soon.

best of luck to you.
take care.
David

You usually can find go deals from hobbyist breaking down their tanks. Try craigslist as well for the bay area.

Thanks, all. I will keep an eye out on craigslist, too. I only need about 10# if that, so I have to find smaller pieces, too.

I am getting my RO/DI later today, so should have the tank running with just sand by tomorrow:)

Angela,
I have 10lbs of live rocks I can sell you. They have been in my tank for over a year. Fiji live rocks i believe. PM me if you're interested.
