Which Angel?

Hello,

I have a 130 gal reef tank and plan to keep sps, and various other corals. I would also like to keep an Angel fish. My favorite is the Regal angel but would also like to know which other Angel large or dwarf would be fine in a reef tank with sps. Any of your suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

For a reef tank, then I would go with swallowtail, wannabe, lamarcks, regal. As for dwarfs, I have that proper feeding cycles (small quanities 3 times a day) and sufficient live rock for grazing helps curve their desire to pick on corals. I have keep flame, potters, coral beauties, bi color in a reef tank before, and I really didnt have any trouble with them. Except one time with my potter, I left town over night and was unable to feed that day, and he destroyed several sps.

I don't think any of the large angels would be guaranteed reef safe as they get older....In a 130 I would think you could easily do 2 dwarfs without issue, I would look at Flame and Coral Beauty together.

I think that for the system you described a regal would be a good choice. I would go with a Red Sea regal and as you know they can be very touchy but in a full blown reef the RS regals can do well. I am starting to rethink the genicanthus for smaller tanks. I had a pair in my 180 and it still didnt seem like enough room for them.
