Which Controller should I get?

I recently purchased 2 Nanostreams 6055's. I want to run them on a controller, but I can't decide which one to purchase. My options are the 7091, 7095, or the AQUASURF. I have a 75 gallon tank and I don't want my flow to be a limiting factor for what I keep in my tank. Here is what I have concluded for each

The 7091 with a Branch Adaptor and Photocell is about $108
- Simple washing of waves
- Operation in night mode
- Foodtimer

The 7095 is about $241
- Simple washing of waves
- Sequential pump circuit
- Chance flow
- Simulation of tidal currents
- Operation in night mode
- Foodtimer
- Moonlight

THE AQUASURF is about $175
- Can do everthing the 7095 can do
- 4 independent channels for control of 4 pumps
- Independent variable speed control on all channels
- Resonate mode used to generate waves (with or without a wave box)
- Precise on/off period configuration
- Mode of operation can be changed throughout the day

The 7091 has the price advantage, but not as many features.

The 7095 has the features advantage over the 7091 and the fact that it won't take up to controllable plugs on my ACJr, but it is the most expensive

The AQUASURF seems to offer the most control over the powerheads and is cheaper than the 7095, but it takes up 2 of the 12 controllable plugs on my ACJr and they don't come out until next week so it might be hard to aquire one.

So, which controller would you go with and why?

Thanks
Brad

Well here is my 2 cents. The 6055 click every time they start. To me this is very annoying. Most posts on the 6055 say not to stop them completely. This being the case, it takes away a lot of the program features of the 7095 that you have highlighted. IMO the mandatory pulse mode of the 7095 is a "feature" I don't like. You can get around the pulse by cranking up the low end of the pulse flow, but then you give up the night time quiet mode. Bottom line is running the 6055's takes away a lot of the 7095 features. If you want the 6055's, I would not place them on a controller. If you want the features of the 7095 choose a different pump.

2turtles, thanks for the info. Sounds like the problem occurs when the 6055 is completely shut off and then turned back on. After reading the manual for the 7091 controller it appears that the only feature that turns the PH off is the foodtimer, and that is manual. Do the 6055's have any problems going between 30% and 100% for the "Simple washing of waves" feature? Or is this the "mandatory pulse mode" you are referring to?

Thanks
Brad

Brad-
I don't have the 7095 manual here but from what I remember the only mode that does not completely shut off the 6055 is "mode 2". (I know that is not the correct name for this setting). Every other mode does. That is why I feel the 6055 really limits the function of the 7095. (unless you and your fish don't mind the clicking) The pulse mode is going between a variable low end (30% - 40% etc) and 100% You can hide the pulse by cranking up the low end but you then give up night time mode. My 6055's do make a hum. Not loud but never the less a hum. When they are constantly changing speeds,(every one to six seconds) the hum is a lot more noticeable. Overall I feel because of the deficiencies in the 6055 you give up a lot of the features of the 7095 controller. If you want the 6055, I would not put it on a controller. If you want the controller pick a different pump. The Vortech's may be an option for you. If I was going to do it again I would not buy the same setup I have now.

I have two 6055's running on a 7095 multicontroller, I've tried the pumps on all of the different settings and haven't heard the "clicking" sounds. The pumps have been great for me for the past few months.

Thanks again for the input.

heartbreak7,
How do you have your 2 6055's configured with the 7095?

Thanks
Brad

I switch between using them on Pulse mode, and Interval 2. I also use the night mode on the controller. On Interval 2, I run them between 60% and 100%.

Hope this helps
