like the title says, which one? Im looking at the cheaper end dslrs and getting a tameon 90mm lens. Will that work with any nikkon dslr?
On craigslist found this---for $330

Nikon D70 (Good Condition, ~20k shutter actuations)
D70 Battery
Body Cap
Nikon Strap
Aftermarket Charger
4GB Sandisk Extrene III CF Card
4GB Kingston CF card

18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S DX Kit Lens + Kenko filter + both caps (excellent condition)
Id like to spend around/under 5-$600 on one that way i have the extra money for the lens!!!

What camera would you choose? New, with warranty or buy used???? Lens i think i will buy new just to make sure its crisp, or should i not sorry and just visually inspect for any damage?
thanks!

It doesn't matter either way. I don't know if the D70 has a motor in the body or not. If it doesn't you'll "have" to focus manually, but you most likely will be anyway.

Hi,

The d70 does have an inbuilt motor and therefore will AF with non AFS lenses

For a cheap option its a good start, the 18-70 is stunning for the cash I have and use one as my standard walk around lens

The D70 is a pretty old camera. You should be able to find a D60, D80, or maybe even a D3000/3100 for that little on CL or ebay.

Unless you're committed to having the AF built-in, I'd suggest something different.

And the 18-70 lens is a pretty poor lens all things considered. I think you'd be happier with a 50mm 1.8, the 18-55 (which is actually a pretty good lens for a kit), or the 18=-105mm/18-135.

Just my $0.02 though.

all thought are appreciated and that's why im asking!!!!
Yeah i have seen some other good deals and i don't much care about the AF id rather do that and from the photos i take i use it anyways.
So what nikon would be best and do they all attach to the tameon 90mm lens?

Besides built in memory (no biggie if i use a card easier to put pics on the computer that way) why would i need a 5100 over a 3100? I dont know all the camera lingo so in plain terms please.

Read the sticky up top about picking a DSLR. You're stressing over things that may never even be a concern to you. I shoot, professionally, with a camera that was built in 2005. Bodies, megapixels and features get way more press than they should.

Cheers
