which pentax?

ok i am a photography student and its time to buy my own. i am sick of waiting weeks to use the schools cameras. i might not be able to get any fall pictures in before i get the camrea. ok so i was planning of getting a nikon D40 or D40X. my teacher had recomended the D40x. but turns out my dad has a film pentax thats broken. he also has a bunch of glass and acesories. so why not go pentex and save some major cash on glass? just wondering what i should get? i would like a digital. am going to go used. and i want digital. don't want to spend too much more than 300 on the body. thanks in advance

Not sure about used prices, but if you can find a K100D Super that would be the best route to go.

Yup, thats the one. Will give you most of the features (including shake reduction) of the K10D, but its less expensive because its a 6MP. That will be plenty unless you want to do really big prints.
